AI Consulting in Sydney

Many businesses have more AI ideas than budget. As your AI consultants, we rank those ideas by value and effort, turn the best into a roadmap, and set the rules for using AI safely. Then we prove the first use case on your own data before anyone commits to a larger build.

How we build an AI roadmap

Four phases from a list of ideas to AI in daily use

Each phase ends with something you can use, so you can stop, pause or carry on with full information.

  1. Phase 1

    Discover

We talk to the people who do the work, map the processes that take the most time, and look at the systems and data behind them.

    • Process map
    • Idea long list
    • Data review
  2. Phase 2

    Prioritise

Every idea is scored on business value, effort and risk, then placed on the matrix below. The winners become the roadmap.

    • Scored use cases
    • Phased roadmap
    • AI use policy
  3. Phase 3

    Prove

The top use case is built as a proof of concept on your real data, in one or two sprints, with results measured against today.

    • Working prototype
    • Results report
    • Go or no-go
  4. Phase 4

    Scale

We build the full version, train the team that will use it, and move to the next use case on the roadmap.

    • Production system
    • Team training
    • Updated roadmap

Prioritising AI use cases

How we decide which AI ideas to do first

An illustrative example, not client work: typical ideas from a professional services firm, placed the way we would score them. Your matrix will look different, which is the point of doing it.

Value to the business →

Do firstHigh value, low effort

  • Drafting first replies to common enquiries
  • Summarising meeting notes into actions
  • Pulling data from invoices and forms

  • Search across years of internal documents

Choosing an AI consulting firm

Five questions to ask any AI consulting firm in Sydney

Sydney has plenty of firms offering AI advice. These questions separate the ones that will get you results from the ones that will leave you with a report.

  1. Who will actually do the work?

Senior people often sell the job and junior staff deliver it.

Our answerThe same Lightning Ventures team scopes, advises and builds.

  2. What will we have at the end?

A strategy deck on its own changes nothing.

Our answerA roadmap, an AI use policy and a tested proof of concept.

  3. Can you build what you recommend?

Otherwise you pay a second firm to start again.

Our answerYes. We build AI agents, automation and AI apps in two-week sprints.

  4. Can we see published results?

Claims are easy; case studies with numbers are not.

Our answerEvery figure on this page links to a published case study.

  5. How do you handle our data?

AI tools can expose client and staff information.

Our answerData rules are part of every roadmap, and systems run on infrastructure you own.

AI governance

The rules we set before AI goes into daily use

Governance doesn't need to be a thick binder. These are the risks we cover in every roadmap, and how we handle each one.

Risk The rule we set In practice
Private data Name which data can go into which AI tools, and which never can. Client files stay out of public chat tools; approved tools keep data in Australia where needed.
Wrong answers Decide where a person must check AI output before it's used. AI drafts the client report; a staff member approves it before it's sent.
Shadow AI Give staff approved tools and a simple way to request new ones. One approved assistant for the whole team instead of five personal accounts.
Unclear ownership Give every AI system an owner who watches its results. The operations lead reviews the enquiry agent's accuracy each month.

FAQ

Questions Sydney businesses ask about AI consulting

What does an AI consultancy do?
An AI consultancy helps you decide where to use AI and how to do it safely. That covers finding and ranking use cases, writing a roadmap, setting governance rules and training your people. We also prove and build the use cases, so the advice doesn't stall.
How do I compare AI consulting firms in Sydney?
Ask each firm for published results, who will do the work, and what you will have at the end: a report, or a working system. Check whether they can build what they recommend, or whether you'll need to hire someone else.
How much does an AI consultant cost in Sydney?
It depends on scope, so we don't publish a price list. A prioritisation workshop is a smaller piece of work than a full roadmap with governance and a proof of concept. You get a written proposal after a free call.
How long does an AI roadmap take?
You get a scored list of use cases at the end of the first two-week sprint, and the roadmap follows in the next. Larger organisations with many teams take longer, and you get something usable at the end of each phase.
Do you meet in person in Sydney?
Our team is in Melbourne. Most of the work runs on video, and we come to Sydney for discovery workshops and leadership sessions when they help.
Can you work with our existing IT team or vendors?
Yes. We often write the roadmap and governance with an in-house IT team, then build some use cases ourselves and hand others to their developers or vendors.
Do you only work with large companies?
No. We work with startups, small businesses and large organisations. A small business usually needs a shorter roadmap focused on one or two use cases.
